How We Bill for Bandwidth Usage We calculate bandwidth usage based on the industry-standard 95% method. Your first 1/2-megabit is free, and usage beyond that is billed at $85 monthly per megabit. Unlike many companies, we do not round up to the nearest megabit, so if you use 2.7 Mb (beyond the free .5 Mb), you are billed for 2.7 Mb, not for 3. Payment for service is due at the beginning of each month, and this will include an estimated bandwidth fee based on your previous month's usage. It will also include any adjustment for the previous month's bandwidth charges, based on the difference between our estimate and your actual usage for that month. Example: Say for the month of March, your usage was 2.8 Mb. At the beginning of March, we had billed you for 2.5 Mb based on your usage in February. So at the beginning of April, we will bill you for April's estimated usage of 2.8 Mb (based on your March usage), and also add the 0.3 Mb adjustment because you used 0.3 Mb more than we had anticipated for March. This billing system may sound a bit complicated, but is designed around the idea that you should only have to pay for the bandwidth that you actually use, and should never be penalized by "Bandwidth Overage Fees" that many companies charge.
